Best GEO tools for the Japanese market (2026)
Six GEO tools compared for Japan: Japanese-language monitors, real-interface versus API tracking, yen-priced GEORank, Tokyo-rooted DemandSphere, and what none of them track.
Japanese B2B marketing puts a lot of weight on 導入実績, a vendor's track record of deployments, and you can write prompts that reflect it. "法人向けの勤怠管理システムで導入実績が多いのは?" (Which attendance management system for companies has the most customer deployments?) is a very different question from "best time tracking software," and an answer to it is likely to draw on case-study pages, press releases and comparison media rather than feature lists. Consumer prompts have their own shapes, such as ranking-style questions ("おすすめランキング") and reputation checks ("評判") that can pull from review and blog content.
For a brand selling in Japan, that has two consequences. Your prompts have to be written in natural Japanese, not translated from an English set, and the pages that win citations are often Japanese-language third-party sites you need to find. A GEO tool has to handle both.
Quick verdict
Promptwatch is the strongest platform for Japan. Japanese is one of the named languages in its localization examples, it monitors the real interfaces of ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot, and it adds crawler logs and visitor analytics. GEORank is the local option: a Tokyo-built, Japanese-language tracker from ¥1,800 a month that collects answers through the AI providers' APIs. DemandSphere suits SEO teams that want SERP and LLM tracking in one budget from a company with Tokyo roots.
Prompts worth tracking
English glosses are in brackets. Write your own in the register your buyers use.
- "中小企業向けのおすすめ会計ソフトは?" (Recommended accounting software for small businesses?)
- "法人向け[カテゴリ]で導入実績が多いのは?" (Which [category] for companies has the most deployments?)
- "[ブランド名]と[競合名]の違いは?" (What's the difference between [brand] and [competitor]?)
- "[ブランド名]の評判は?" (What is [brand]'s reputation?)
- "初心者におすすめの[製品]を教えて" (Recommend a [product] for beginners)
- "大阪で人気の[カテゴリ]ランキング" (Popular [category] ranking in Osaka)
- "[サービス名]の料金プランを比較して" (Compare [service]'s pricing plans)
What a tool needs for Japan
Japanese monitors. In Promptwatch, a monitor's language and location are fixed once created, so set up a Japanese-language monitor for Japan rather than adding Japanese prompts to an English one. If you also sell to English-speaking expats or inbound business travellers, that is a second monitor.
Real interface or API? This matters in Japan because the local tool collects answers differently from the platforms. Promptwatch runs prompts through the live interfaces of the search-connected engines, and tracks Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral, Grok and others separately through their APIs. GEORank's catalog entry says it collects answers through the providers' APIs (Gemini with Google Search grounding, OpenAI, Perplexity). Neither is wrong, but they can return different answers. Our explainer on API-tracked versus real-UI tracking covers the difference.
Local engines. Yahoo! JAPAN is not in Promptwatch's tracked model list, and no tool in our catalog documents tracking its AI features. If Yahoo! JAPAN matters to your buyers, that is a gap you'll have to cover manually for now.
City and region. Country-level tracking is on every Promptwatch paid plan; prefecture or city tracking (state/city) starts on Business, and Business can pin ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode monitors to coordinates with a 20 m to 5 km radius. Useful for clinics, restaurants or retail with branches in several cities; check that the prefectures and cities you need are listed.
The ranking
1. Promptwatch
Promptwatch gives a Japan team the full chain: Japanese prompts on any of the supported engines (every paid plan can track any of them), citation analytics that show which Japanese comparison sites and media are cited, and Agent Analytics (from Professional, $245) to check that GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot and Google-Agent can reach your Japanese pages. Prompt Explorer can draw suggestions from your Search Console queries, which is a fast way to start from the Japanese queries you already rank for. From Professional, Content Creation writes in the prompt's language, so drafts come back in Japanese.
Essential is $95 a month, Business $579. Seats are unlimited on every paid plan. Promptwatch is ISO/IEC 27001 certified and GDPR compliant, which procurement teams tend to ask about.
2. AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ Starter ($295) covers 11 models with country-level support. Multi-language support sits on Enterprise, and Starter is single-country per our catalog, so confirm Japanese coverage on Starter before you sign.
3. Scrunch AI
Scrunch AI Core ($250) tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot. Its catalog entry doesn't describe language options; ask about Japanese.
4. Profound
Profound runs a custom Enterprise plan with up to nine engines and SOC 2. A global brand with a Japan team inside a larger marketing contract might use it. Japanese coverage isn't described in our entry.
5. GEORank (Japan)
GEORank launched on October 13, 2026, from C3Reve Inc., a Tokyo development company founded in 2017. It is built in Japanese for Japanese SEO staff, with a daily rank-style table per question, a citation-media to-do list and a site diagnosis that proposes before-and-after text and generates robots.txt, JSON-LD and llms.txt code. Starter is ¥1,800 a month (¥1,980 with tax) for five questions on Gemini only. Standard (¥6,300) adds ChatGPT and Perplexity with 12 shared questions; Business (¥27,000) has 50 questions and white-label PDF reports. The trial is 7 days with no card and no auto-billing. It is very new, team invites are "coming soon," and the AI Overviews coverage needs confirming.
6. DemandSphere DemandMetrics GenAI
DemandSphere was founded in Tokyo in 2009 and is now based in Columbus, Ohio and Tokyo. It tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews daily alongside Google SERPs, from one budget where one prompt counts as ten keywords. Starter is $79 a month billed annually ($95 monthly). Log analytics is an Enterprise add-on. Its entry doesn't spell out Japanese-language tracking, so ask on the demo.

Who should pick which
A brand that needs to know which Japanese sites carry its category, whether crawlers can read its Japanese pages, and whether AI traffic converts should use Promptwatch. A small Japanese company or agency that wants a cheap daily tracker its SEO staff will recognize can start on GEORank Standard. An SEO team already reporting on SERPs that wants LLM prompts in the same daily table should look at DemandSphere. AthenaHQ and Scrunch are worth checking if they confirm Japanese on their entry plans.
Honest limits
We have no sourced figures on AI engine usage in Japan, so we don't state any. Yahoo! JAPAN's AI features are not tracked by any tool here. And Japanese answers, like any others, change by engine and by day. Watch averages over a few weeks.
FAQ
Does Promptwatch support Japanese?
Yes. Japanese is one of the languages named in its localization examples, and monitors run in any language from any country.
Is there a Japanese-made GEO tool?
GEORank, from Tokyo-based C3Reve, launched in October 2026 and is priced in yen from ¥1,800 a month.
Can I track Yahoo! JAPAN?
Not with the tools in this guide. Promptwatch's tracked list doesn't include it, and no catalog entry documents it.
API or real-interface tracking: which is better?
They answer different questions. Real-interface tracking shows what a user sees in the app. API tracking shows what a model returns outside the app, with or without web search depending on how the tool sets it up. GEORank, for example, uses Gemini with Google Search grounding.
