Best tool to track Google rankings and AI visibility together in 2026

Which tools track Google rankings and AI visibility together? We compare SE Ranking, Semrush, Ahrefs, Promptwatch and rank trackers with published prices.

For years the job was simple: track your keywords, watch the positions, report the movement. Now a buyer might find you through a Google result, an AI Overview, a ChatGPT answer or a Perplexity citation, and the same question can send them down any of those paths. Teams want one place to see all of it.

The market has answered in two ways. Classic SEO suites added an AI tab. AI visibility platforms added Google and Bing data. Which approach is better depends on which half of the job you cannot afford to get wrong.

Two kinds of tool

SEO suites with AI tracking start from the keyword. They are strong at Google positions, SERP features and site audits, and they bolt on AI Overview detection and some chatbot tracking. The AI side tends to be directional rather than deep.

AI visibility platforms with search data start from the prompt. They are strong at citations, crawler behavior and traffic from AI engines, and they pull Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster data in for context. They are not built to replace a daily SERP position tracker covering thousands of keywords.

Knowing which camp a tool belongs to saves a lot of disappointment.

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch is our first pick when the question is "how do Google and AI search relate for my site?" rather than "where do I rank for 5,000 keywords?" Its Search Insights view overlays Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster data (including Microsoft Copilot traffic) on AI crawler activity and citations, and 360 Insights joins crawler logs, citation clicks and AI-referred visits per page. The result is a page-level picture of search performance next to AI performance.

Prompt tracking covers real-UI monitoring of ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity and more, daily per model, country and language. Prompt Volumes gives search volumes, difficulty and citation rates across AI search, Google and Bing, and Prompt Explorer can suggest prompts from your Search Console data or ranking keywords. Beyond measurement, the Action Board turns findings into prioritized tasks, and the Content Agent (Business) can publish fixes.

The boundary: the Google data comes from Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, which is first-party performance data for your own site. It is not a scraped daily SERP tracker for competitors across a huge keyword list. If that is your core need, pair it with a rank tracker.

Pricing per month: Essential $95, Professional $245 (crawler logs begin here), Business $579. Agency plans start at $199.

2. SE Ranking

SE Ranking is the strongest value if you want rankings and AI in one bundle. Core is EUR 109/mo monthly (EUR 87.20 billed annually) and includes 100 prompts tracked daily and 2k keywords. The AI Search add-on is EUR 79/mo for 200 prompts across AI Overviews, AI Mode and ChatGPT. Two cautions from our catalog: one check equals one prompt on one engine, so costs multiply across engines, and an independent audit found the AI tracking directional at this sampling depth. Citation-level tracking is still under development.

3. Semrush and Ahrefs

Semrush AI Toolkit is $99/mo per domain as an add-on (five engines, 25 prompts, one user), with extra domains, users and prompts billed on top. Its tracked prompts are AI-generated approximations rather than real user queries. Ahrefs Brand Radar needs an Ahrefs base plan ($129/mo and up), then $199/mo per AI index or $699/mo for the bundle. An independent January 2026 test found it reported 3 ChatGPT mentions where manual checks verified 123, so use it for direction, not counts.

4. Other rank trackers with an AI column

Keyword.com has the lowest entry price: its 360° plan, combining Google rank tracking with AI visibility, starts from $33/mo. SEOmonitor detects AI Overviews daily and sells LLM tracking as a Pro add-on at EUR 19 per 1,000 credits. Search Atlas includes LLM Visibility from its $199/mo Growth plan. AccuRanker starts at $224/mo with AI Overview flags, and its AI tracking is a separate product. Nightwatch starts at EUR 79/mo with 50 AI prompts. Advanced Web Ranking starts at $139/mo, with keyword-unit billing that AI tracking eats quickly. Sistrix starts at EUR 119/mo, though AI Overviews are not factored into its Visibility Index.

Who should pick which

  • You want to understand how search and AI performance connect, page by page, and act on it: Promptwatch.
  • You need classic keyword rankings at scale, plus an AI signal, on a budget: SE Ranking or Keyword.com.
  • Your team already lives in Semrush or Ahrefs: the add-on is the lowest-friction start, as long as you treat the AI numbers as directional.
  • You run a rank-tracking-heavy agency: keep your tracker and add an AI platform alongside it rather than expecting one tool to be best at both.

The part tracking tools skip

Rankings tell you where you appear. AI visibility tells you whether engines mention you. Neither tells you why one page wins in Google and loses in ChatGPT. For that you need crawler logs (did the AI bots fetch the page?) and citation data (which pages did engines choose instead?). Most suites do not offer either. That is why we would start with the free AI Visibility Report, then decide whether you need a platform that joins the two views or a rank tracker with a light AI add-on.
