Platform that tracks AI search visibility and content gaps for SEO teams

Which platform tracks AI search visibility and content gaps for SEO teams? We compare Promptwatch, AthenaHQ, Scrunch AI, Semrush, Ahrefs and Conductor on gaps and cost.

An SEO team knows what a content gap is: a keyword where competitors rank and you do not. In AI search the same idea applies to prompts. A buyer asks "which accounting software works for a ten-person agency?", the engine cites four pages, and none of them is yours, because you have no page that answers that question. Tracking visibility tells you that you lost. Content gap analysis tells you what to write.

A platform that does both lets an SEO team move from "we are invisible on these prompts" to "we need these five pages", without stitching together three tools and a spreadsheet.

What SEO teams should expect

Prompt-level visibility. Share of voice, position in answer and sentiment per prompt, split by topic, so gaps appear where they cost you.

Gap logic that uses real data. Gaps should come from tracked prompts and citation behavior, not a generic list of suggested topics.

A path from gap to page. A brief, a draft, a refresh suggestion, or at least a prioritized task.

Search data alongside AI data. SEO teams already trust Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. Seeing them next to AI crawls and citations saves reconciliation work.

Measurement after publishing. A new page is only a win if engines fetch and cite it.

The ranking

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch fits this brief most closely because gap analysis is built on top of tracking. Content gap analysis shows coverage scores against the prompts you track, and an Answer Gap Report sits alongside Visibility Score (one agency customer, Monks, uses them for client content roadmaps). Prompt Explorer suggests prompts from Search Console, ranking keywords, People Also Ask or any page, with search volumes, difficulty scores and per-model query fan-outs. Topic Insights, inside 360 Insights, shows where pages underdeliver for their topic, and Search Insights overlays Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster data (including Microsoft Copilot) on AI crawls and citations.

From gap to page: Content Creation from a brief, Content Refresh with diff-style suggestions, and on Business a Content Agent that plans, writes and publishes against gaps on a schedule, with a review inbox or a hands-off mode with a quality check. It publishes to WordPress, Webflow and Framer. The Action Board lists prioritized, evidence-backed actions.

After publishing, Agent Analytics shows whether bots fetched the page and the citation rate, and Citation Trends tracks first cited, ramp-up days, peak rate and decay half-life per page. Visitor analytics counts AI-referred sessions and conversions.

Plans: free Explore, Essential $95 (content gap analysis, 360 Insights, site audit), Professional $245 (adds crawler logs, knowledge base, 5 AEO articles), Business $579 (adds Content Agent).

2. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ turns visibility gaps into on-page and off-page actions through an Action Center and a content optimization agent. Starter is $295 a month with 3,600 credits and 11 models. Good if the team wants assignable tasks. No crawler-log product is published.

3. Scrunch AI

Scrunch AI Core is $250 a month, with site audits and insights across four LLMs. The catalog notes its recommendations show where you are not cited more than what to change.

4. Goodie AI and AirOps

Goodie AI grades pages for AI extractability and recommends edits, from $295 a month. AirOps is a workflow engine for producing and refreshing content, with plan prices not shown on its page. Both are strongest on the content side and weaker as trackers.

5. Semrush, Ahrefs and Conductor

For teams already in suites: Semrush AI Toolkit is listed at $99 a month per domain (not re-verified recently), Ahrefs Brand Radar adds Custom Prompts to paid Ahrefs plans, and Conductor puts AI tracking into enterprise content workflows without published prices. They give SEO context but do not document gap analysis tied to prompts the way a dedicated platform does.

Who should pick which

  • An SEO team that wants gaps, drafts and proof in one tool: Promptwatch.
  • A team that wants a task queue first: AthenaHQ.
  • A team that already has a tracker and wants page-level grading: Goodie AI.
  • A team in Semrush or Ahrefs that wants a cheap AI column first: the add-ons.

How to run it

Import prompts from Search Console. Group by topic. Track for two weeks. Sort gaps by prompt volume and business value. Publish or refresh the top five pages, then measure. No platform can guarantee that engines cite what you publish. It tells you where to spend effort and whether it worked.
