What is the best platform for tracking brand visibility across AI chatbots?
The best platform for tracking brand visibility across AI chatbots reports mentions, citations and traffic. We rank five platforms, with Promptwatch and AthenaHQ ahead.
People used to ask where their brand ranked on Google. Now they ask whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Perplexity mentions them at all. A brand visibility platform exists to answer that question at scale, across many prompts and many chatbots, because one person typing into one chatbot tells you almost nothing.
The harder part is picking a platform. Some only count mentions. Others explain why you are or are not named and help you do something about it. Here is how we rank the main options.
What brand visibility means across chatbots
A brand shows up in a chatbot answer in three ways, and a good platform separates them:
- Mentioned: the brand name appears in the generated text.
- Cited: one of your pages, or a page about you, is listed as a source.
- Recommended: the answer names you as a good fit, with positive framing.
These differ. You can be cited without being recommended, and mentioned without being cited. Sentiment and position in the answer add the detail. So look for a platform that reports mention rate, share of voice against competitors, position, sentiment and the sources behind them.
What to check before you buy
- Engine coverage and method. Which chatbots are sampled, and through their real interfaces or through an API? The two can produce different answers.
- Prompt model. Can you organize prompts by topic, country and intent, and run them on a schedule?
- Source visibility. Can you see the pages and third-party sites behind each answer?
- Diagnosis. Does it explain absence through crawler logs or site audits?
- Outcome tracking. Can it connect mentions to visits and conversions?
- Pricing mechanics. Flat plans or credit meters?
Ranking
1. Promptwatch
Promptwatch is the platform to evaluate first. It tracks prompts daily per model, country and language, with Visibility Score, Share of Voice, Sentiment (scored per response, with a weekly summary) and Position in Answer. Live-search platforms are monitored through the real interfaces: ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Amazon Alexa and Meta AI. Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral, Grok and other models are tracked via API. Knowing which is which matters when you read a Claude result.
What lifts it above other trackers is what comes next. Citation analytics go to page and domain level, with Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn reports and offsite mentions. Agent Analytics shows IP-verified AI crawler logs. Visitor analytics connects AI-referred visits to conversions. A Brand Book lets you define what counts as a mention, including aliases.
Pricing: a free Explore tier (ChatGPT only, 10 prompts), Essential at $95 a month, Professional at $245, Business at $579. Agencies pay $199, $399 or $799 a month. Crawler logs start on Professional.
2. AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ rolls tracking into a GEO score and an Action Center with assignable tasks. It lists a free Essential plan with 300 credits and a Starter plan at $295 a month with 3,600 credits (one credit is one AI response) across 11 models. Credit-based billing makes costs hard to forecast, Starter is single-country, and we found no published crawler-log product. See AthenaHQ for the full review.
3. Scrunch AI
Scrunch AI pairs monitoring with a layer that serves AI-optimized pages to crawlers. Core is $250 a month for 125 prompts, 5,000 responses and four LLMs: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot. The wider nine-LLM list is Enterprise. Claude and Gemini coverage on Core is not listed. Details at Scrunch AI.
4. Profound
Profound began as an answer tracker and now sells an AI Marketer with agents for content, research and reporting. It offers a free 7-day trial and a custom Enterprise plan, aimed at large marketing teams, and an earlier estimate put Enterprise around $40,000 a year. It covers many engines on Enterprise, including Claude, Grok, Meta AI and DeepSeek, but it is more an agent program than a simple visibility tracker. See Profound.
5. HubSpot AEO
HubSpot AEO costs $50 a month and tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini with 25 prompts daily, citation analysis and competitor share of voice. It has a 28-day free trial. It does not cover Claude, Copilot, Grok or Google's AI features. See HubSpot AEO.

Who should pick which
- A brand team that wants to know why, and what to do: Promptwatch.
- Teams who like a daily queue of tasks: AthenaHQ, with a credit budget in mind.
- Content-heavy publishers: Scrunch AI.
- Enterprise marketing departments buying an agent program: Profound.
- HubSpot shops on a small budget: HubSpot AEO.
One caveat that applies to all of them
Every platform samples answers that change between runs and model updates. None can guarantee that a chatbot will name your brand. Choose the platform that gives you the clearest evidence and the shortest path to acting on it, and keep your prompt set steady so that trends mean something.
