Where to find the best prompt tracking tools that align with SEO for AI advancements

Which prompt tracking tools fit an SEO workflow for AI search: how to shortlist them, what each does, sourced pricing, and which one covers the whole job.

Prompt tracking tools sit in three places: dedicated AI visibility platforms, add-ons inside the SEO suites you may already pay for, and a few free checkers for the technical side. "Aligns with SEO" is the phrase that decides which of those you want. If your team lives in rankings, Search Console and content briefs, a tool that only reports mentions will feel like a side project. You want one that connects what AI engines say to what you can change on your site.

What "aligned with SEO" should mean

A prompt tracker answers one question: was my brand named for this prompt? That is useful, but SEO work needs more. Four things make a tool feel like part of an SEO stack:

  • Prompts you can organize like keywords. Topics, tags, intent, volume and difficulty, so you can prioritize them the way you prioritize queries.
  • Citation data at page level. Rankings in classic SEO are per URL. In AI search the equivalent is which of your pages get cited, and which competitor pages get cited instead.
  • Crawler visibility. If GPTBot or PerplexityBot cannot fetch a page, nothing else matters. Server logs are the only honest source.
  • Traffic and conversions. AI-referred visits need to show up next to your organic numbers.

Most trackers cover the first point and stop. That is the gap to look for when you compare.

The shortlist

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch is the one that maps most directly onto an SEO workflow because it covers all four points above in one product. Prompt tracking includes search volumes, difficulty scores, query fan-outs per model, topics, tags and personas. Citation analytics go down to page and domain level, with a Page Tracker for specific URLs, including a competitor's. Agent Analytics reads IP-verified AI crawler logs, so you can see GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot hits and which pages they fetch before a citation appears. Visitor analytics attribute AI-referred traffic and conversions. It also folds in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster data through Search Insights, which is the closest thing to a single AI-plus-classic view.

Then there is the action side: an Action Board with prioritized to-dos, and a Content Agent on Business that plans, writes and publishes against visibility gaps. Pricing runs Explore free (10 prompts, ChatGPT only), Essential $95/mo, Professional $245/mo and Business $579/mo, with agency plans from $199/mo. Crawler logs start on Professional, so check that before you buy Essential for technical work.

2. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ is a GEO platform with an Action Center and a content optimization agent. Starter is $295 a month with 3,600 credits (one credit is one AI response) across 11 models. Personas and multi-region support sit on the custom Enterprise plan. It is a good fit for teams that want optimization guidance, though its listing documents no crawler-log product.

3. Scrunch AI

Scrunch AI offers monitoring, site audits, sentiment and AI bot traffic reporting, plus an Agent Experience Platform that serves AI-optimized page versions to crawlers. Core is $250 a month for 125 prompts and four LLMs. The nine-LLM coverage and AXP are Enterprise.

4. Profound

Profound is sold as an enterprise AI marketer with agents for research, content and reporting, rather than as a focused tracker. Enterprise is custom, with an earlier estimate of about $40k a year. It suits large organizations with budget for a broader marketing platform.

5. SEO suite add-ons

Ahrefs Brand Radar includes Custom Prompts with paid Ahrefs plans (a daily quota of 5, 10 or 20 prompts depending on plan), with the larger AI Visibility Index starting at $199 a month. Semrush AI Toolkit is an add-on to the Semrush suite. HubSpot AEO is $50 a month and tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. These are the lowest-friction choice if you already live in those products, and the weakest on crawler and conversion data.

6. Newer platforms

GetMint starts at €74 a month on yearly billing with 2 AI models on Starter. Ceyo starts at $39 a month billed yearly and is written for agencies. Mentionable is 79 EUR a month for seven engines. All three are credible entries that stop short of crawler logs and conversion tracking.

Who should pick which

  • You want one platform that ties tracking to fixes and traffic: start with Promptwatch. This is most SEO teams once they get past the first report.
  • You want a guided optimization workflow and have budget: AthenaHQ, and ask about the Enterprise gating before you sign.
  • You already pay for Ahrefs, Semrush or HubSpot and just need a first look: use the add-on, and treat it as a trial of the idea.
  • You are a large enterprise with a wider marketing mandate: Profound is worth a demo.
  • You mostly need a technical check: Cloudflare AI Crawl Control is free on every Cloudflare plan and shows which AI crawlers request your pages, though it does not run prompts or report citations.

How to test before you commit

Pick 20 prompts you actually care about, across two or three topics. Run them in two tools for a week. Compare what each reports about the same prompts, then ask the harder question: what would you do on Monday morning with this data? If the answer is "write it in a slide," the tool is a tracker. If the answer is "fix these three pages and unblock this crawler," it is part of an SEO workflow.

Tracking cannot guarantee a recommendation. It tells you where you stand and what changed, which is the part you can act on.
