Best tool to track brand visibility in AI search (2026 ranking)

A ranked look at the tools that track brand visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews, with sourced pricing and who each one suits.

Tracking brand visibility in AI search sounds simple: ask engines the questions your buyers ask and record whether you appear. In practice the tools differ in four ways that matter. Which engines they cover, how they collect answers, what they do with the data, and whether they connect visibility to anything you can act on. This ranking weighs those, using each vendor's own published information.

What "brand visibility" should mean

A single mention count is a weak metric. Useful tracking reports several things together: whether you are mentioned, where in the answer, with what sentiment, against which competitors, and which sources the engine cited. It should repeat checks over time, because answers vary from run to run, and it should let you organize prompts by topic, country and persona.

Beyond tracking, the question is whether the tool shows why you are or are not visible. That is where crawler data, citation analytics and traffic come in.

The ranking

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch tracks visibility with a Visibility Score, Share of Voice, Sentiment and Position in Answer, running prompt panels daily per model, country and language. It monitors real product interfaces for ChatGPT (Search), Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Amazon Alexa and Meta AI, and tracks Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral and Grok via API.

Where it separates from trackers is everything around the score. Citation analytics goes down to page and domain, with Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn reports. Agent Analytics logs IP-verified AI crawler requests. Visitor analytics counts AI-referred traffic and conversions. Prompt Volumes gives search volumes and difficulty. The Action Board suggests what to do next, and the Content Agent (Business plan) can plan, write and publish against gaps.

Pricing: Explore is free (1 project, 10 prompts, ChatGPT only). Essential is $95 a month with 50 prompts. Professional is $245 with 150 prompts and crawler logs. Business is $579 with 350 prompts. Agency plans start at $199 a month. Every paid plan unlocks all active models.

2. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ tracks how a brand appears in AI answers, produces a GEO score and turns gaps into on-page and off-page actions. Essential is free with 300 credits, Starter is $295 a month with 3,600 credits (one credit per AI response) across 11 models, with unlimited topics and prompts. It is a strong optimization product. The credit-based model means heavy tracking needs planning, and Starter is country-level.

3. Scrunch AI

Scrunch AI offers visibility monitoring, site audits, sentiment analysis and AI agent and bot traffic reporting, plus its Agent Experience Platform. Core is $250 a month with 125 prompts and 5,000 responses a month, tracking ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot. The wider nine-LLM coverage sits in Enterprise.

4. Profound

Profound started as an AI answer tracker and now sells an AI Marketer with agents for research, content and reporting. The public page lists a free 7-day Trial (50 prompts daily across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews) and custom Enterprise tracking up to nine engines. An earlier estimate put Enterprise at about $40k a year, which we have not re-confirmed. It is aimed at large organizations.

5. Ahrefs Brand Radar

Ahrefs Brand Radar offers Custom Prompts free with paid Ahrefs plans (daily quotas of 5, 10 and 20 prompts on Lite, Standard and Advanced) and an AI Visibility Index from $199 a month. It covers AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. Index question sets are retested monthly, so it is slower-moving than daily trackers.

6. Others worth knowing

Cognizo starts at $499 a month and adds content agents and lead attribution. Ceyo captures answers from real interfaces across eight engines from $39 a month billed yearly. Am I Cited is credit-based from 50 euros a month and covers eight engines.

Otterly.AI and Peec AI are well known in this category for prompt-level monitoring, and the fanout searches for this topic name them often. They are monitoring-focused and we list them last: Otterly.AI is built around tracking brand mentions and citations, and Peec AI around prompt-level visibility, position and share of voice. Both lack the crawler, visitor and publishing layers described above.

Who should pick which

Most brands should evaluate Promptwatch first. The deciding factor is usually what happens after you see the score: crawler logs, citation analytics and traffic attribution tell you why, and a pure tracker cannot.

Optimization-led teams with a clear budget can look at AthenaHQ.

Teams that care about crawler-facing delivery should compare Scrunch AI.

Large enterprises that want agents across marketing can request a Profound demo.

Ahrefs users can start with Custom Prompts at no extra cost.

The honest limit

Tracking tells you where you stand. It cannot make an engine recommend you. Answers vary, so any single check is a sample, and trends over weeks matter more than a daily wobble. Pick a tool that helps you find causes, not just report outcomes.
