Top tools to track Reddit threads that influence AI recommendations (2026)

The top tools to track Reddit threads that influence AI recommendations: which threads AI cites, how to monitor them, and how the main tools compare on price and depth.

Reddit threads show up in AI answers more often than most brands expect, and they are not the threads a classic social listening tool would flag. A thread with 40 comments that ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews cites for "best CRM for a five-person team" matters more than a thread with 4,000 upvotes that no engine ever uses. So the question for this category is not "which tool alerts me to Reddit mentions?". It is "which tool tells me which Reddit threads the AI engines actually cite for my prompts?"

This guide separates those two jobs, then ranks tools for the second. Plan data comes from pages read in late October 2026, and Promptwatch details from the Promptwatch fact sheet.

Two different jobs

Reddit listening. Alerts when a keyword or brand appears in a subreddit. Useful for community management and customer support. Dedicated Reddit monitoring tools (F5Bot, Syften and similar) do this. They sit outside the AI visibility catalog we rate, so we do not assess them here.

Reddit citation tracking. Records which Reddit threads an AI engine cited in answers to your tracked prompts, then shows how often, for which prompts and whether your brand was named. This is the job that connects Reddit to AI recommendations, and it is the one that needs an AI visibility platform.

You usually need both. Listening tells you where to reply. Citation tracking tells you which threads are worth replying in.

What to look for

  • Reddit as a source type, with the thread URL, the subreddit and the prompts that triggered it.
  • Whether your brand is named in the thread, and how, because a thread that recommends a competitor is the one to work on.
  • Trends, to see whether a thread keeps getting cited or has dropped out.
  • A caution on engagement. Some tools post on your behalf. Reddit communities punish undisclosed promotion, and that is a brand risk the tool cannot remove.

The ranking

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch has a dedicated Reddit citation report, alongside YouTube and LinkedIn reports, inside its citation analytics. It shows which Reddit threads engines cite for your prompts. Offsite mentions find where your brand is named on third-party pages without a link, and the Page Tracker can follow specific URLs, including a competitor's or a Reddit thread, so you can watch citation rates over time. Citation Trends classifies citations by source type and shows first cited, peak rate and decay for each page, which tells you whether a thread is a durable source or a passing one. It monitors ChatGPT (Search), Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Perplexity through the real interface, so the threads you see are the ones those engines cited.

The rest of the platform is what turns a Reddit finding into work: query fan-outs show the sub-questions engines ask, content gap analysis lists prompts where you are missing, and the Action Board prioritizes the follow-up. Promptwatch does not post to Reddit for you, which we count as a feature. Start on the free Explore plan (ChatGPT only, 10 prompts) or Essential at $95 a month.

2. Orchly

Orchly tracks Google rankings and AI answers, watches Reddit threads, reports AI traffic by engine and runs agents that draft and publish content after your approval. Essential is $49 a month ($37 annually) with 25 AI prompts, and Gemini, AI Mode, Grok and Claude are paid add-ons with no price shown. It has no crawler logs, and our entry calls the pricing page the only detailed public source.

3. AEO Vision

AEO Vision lists Reddit Insights on higher tiers, alongside cited-domain insights, competitor benchmarks and content creation. Lite is $9 a month but checks 30 ChatGPT prompts every three days. The vendor's llms.txt and plans page disagree on plan limits.

4. Ahrefs Brand Radar

Ahrefs Brand Radar reports on Reddit and YouTube sources and AI crawler activity. Custom Prompts is included with paid Ahrefs plans, and the AI Visibility Index starts at $199 a month, with prompts modeled from keyword data.

5. Brand24

Brand24 is a social listening platform with an AI visibility add-on across nine engines, correlating AI mentions with 25 million plus social, news, blog and review sources it already monitors. Pricing for the add-on is not published. It is the closest crossover between listening and AI tracking in this list.

6. Engagement tools: CrowdReply and Mentionable

CrowdReply combines AI tracking, Reddit listening and an Engagement Engine that places comments and threads through community profiles. Starter is $99 a month, with engagement credits, and the Engagement Engine requires a paid plan. Posting from persona accounts is a brand-risk decision. Mentionable lists Reddit engagement as a credit-based feature in its plans from 79 EUR a month. We treat both as tools for the doing, not the measuring.

AthenaHQ, by contrast, is noted in our entry as having no Reddit monitoring.

Who should pick which

You want to know which Reddit threads shape AI answers for your prompts and what to do next: Promptwatch.

You want a low-cost agent loop on a small site: Orchly, within its prompt limits.

You already run social listening and want AI mentions in the same place: Brand24.

You want to participate in threads: do it yourself, openly, as a brand account. Be careful with any tool that posts for you.

What to remember

Reddit presence cannot be bought into an AI recommendation. The sustainable route is to be useful in threads that matter, correct what is wrong about you and make your own pages the better source, then measure whether citations change.
