We're leaving Otterly: which platform has more accurate data and an easier switch?

Leaving Otterly.AI? Compare AI visibility platforms on data accuracy and switching effort, with a test you can run yourself before you cancel anything.

Start with why you are leaving

People leave Otterly.AI for different reasons, and the right replacement depends on which one is yours. Our catalog notes the common ones: monitoring data that can lag by up to a week on some plans, a headline engine list where Gemini, Claude and AI Mode are paid add-ons, a 15-prompt Lite plan that works as a trial and not a program, no traffic or revenue attribution, and nothing that tells you what to change. Otterly also has real strengths. Setup is fast, there is a no-card trial, and the price ladder is easy to read. If you only wanted a simple dashboard, it did that.

So before comparing, write down your reason. "Data feels stale" leads to a different shortlist than "we need to see traffic" or "we need more engines without add-on fees".

Nobody can prove their data is more accurate: test it

Every vendor says its data is accurate. None can prove it to you from a pricing page. What you can do is run a small test that takes an afternoon.

  1. Pick 15 to 20 prompts you already track.
  2. Run each by hand in the real product (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and so on), in a clean session, and write down who is mentioned and which sources are cited.
  3. Compare with what each platform recorded for the same prompts and day.
  4. Expect some disagreement, because assistants vary between askings. Look at the pattern across prompts, not at one mismatch.

Four properties make data more trustworthy, and you can check each of them in a trial:

  • Real interface or API sample. Monitoring the live product matches what buyers see better than a raw API call, which can differ.
  • Refresh rate. Daily beats weekly if you act on changes.
  • Location and language control, so a prompt runs as the buyer would ask it.
  • Visible sources. If you can see the cited pages, you can check them.

What an easier switch looks like

No platform in our catalog documents a way to import another tool's historical data, so plan on a clean start with the new tool, and do not cancel anything on day one.

  1. Export what your Otterly plan allows, including your prompt list and any reports you need for the record. Our catalog notes Otterly has no PDF export, so screenshot or copy anything a stakeholder needs.
  2. Recreate your prompts. Bring your list and tags over, then improve it: add buyer wording, comparison prompts and persona variants.
  3. Run both in parallel for two to four weeks. This is the accuracy test above, and it gives you a bridge for reporting.
  4. Re-baseline. Agree with stakeholders that trend lines restart on the switch date.
  5. Cancel Otterly once the new tool's numbers are stable and the team trusts them.

Promptwatch: the one we would test first

Promptwatch answers most of the reasons people leave a monitoring-only tracker. It monitors the real interfaces of ChatGPT (Search), Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Amazon Alexa and Meta AI, with further models via API, and every paid plan includes all active models, so there are no engine add-ons to buy. Prompt panels run daily per model, country and language. Responses are visible, with citation analytics down to page and domain level, so your accuracy test is easy to run: open a response and compare it with what you saw by hand.

On the switch itself: Prompt Explorer suggests prompts from Search Console, ranking keywords and People Also Ask, which helps you upgrade your list rather than copy it. Topics, tags and prompt types structure the import. The API and hosted MCP server include write tools, so large prompt lists can be loaded programmatically. Brand aliases and the Brand Book carry over your naming rules.

It also adds what monitoring-only tools lack: IP-verified AI crawler logs through Agent Analytics (Professional and up, $245 a month), visitor analytics that tie AI visits to conversions, content gap analysis and an Action Board. The 7-day free trial applies to monthly billing on Essential ($95) and Professional ($245).

The alternatives

AthenaHQ suits teams that want an action queue. Starter is $295 a month and credit-based, so heavy tracking uses credits quickly.

Scrunch AI adds bot traffic reporting, but our catalog notes weekly refresh and four LLMs on Core, so if stale data was your reason for leaving, test the refresh rate.

LLM Pulse has clear euro pricing and a daily option. Weekly is the default on the cheap tier.

Rankscale is credit-based and cheap, with page audits, though our catalog notes no revenue attribution.

Profound is an enterprise marketing-agent platform, with contracts starting around $40,000 a year per our existing entry. It is a poor match for a team leaving a $29 to $489 tool.

For completeness, Otterly.AI remains a reasonable fast-start tracker if what you outgrew was prompt volume and not the product approach.

Who should pick which

  • You want fresher, visible data plus crawler logs and traffic attribution: Promptwatch.
  • You want an action queue and accept credits: AthenaHQ.
  • You want bot reporting: Scrunch AI, after testing refresh rate.
  • You want cheap euro pricing with a daily option: LLM Pulse.

Whichever you pick, run the parallel test. A tool that holds up against your own manual checks is the one to keep.
