What's a good platform to test how my content performs across different AI models
Which platform tests how your content performs across different AI models? We compare Promptwatch, AthenaHQ, Scrunch AI and Profound on coverage and testing.
Testing content across AI models is not like testing a page in Google. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google's AI Overviews each retrieve, rank and cite differently. A page that gets cited in one can be ignored in another, and the same prompt can return a different answer an hour later. A good testing platform has to do four things: run the same prompts across many models on a schedule, show which specific pages get cited, let you compare before and after a change, and make the model list broad enough that you are not testing one engine and calling it all of them.
What "testing content" should mean in practice
A single prompt run is an anecdote. A test is a fixed set of prompts, run daily per model, with a baseline and a comparison period after you edit a page. You want to see whether your URL appears as a citation, how often, in which position, and whether the surrounding answer mentions your brand. You also want to see the fan-out queries each model ran, because they tell you what the model actually went looking for.
That rules out tools that only report one blended visibility score. It also rules out tools covering a handful of engines on the entry plan.
Platforms compared
1. Promptwatch
Promptwatch is the strongest fit for content testing because it ties the prompt, the cited page and the crawl together. It runs real-UI monitoring of ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Amazon Alexa and Meta AI, plus coding agents such as Codex and Claude Code. It also tracks API models including Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral, Grok and others, so be clear that those are API samples, not live interface captures. Every paid plan includes all active models.
For testing, the useful pieces are:
- Page Tracker, which follows specific URLs, yours or a competitor's, and lists the responses and prompts where they appear.
- Citation Trends, which shows first cited, ramp-up days, peak citation rate and decay half-life per page.
- A/B period comparison on dashboards, so you can set a before and after window around an edit.
- Query fan-outs per model, showing what each engine searched for.
- Content Refresh, which proposes diff-style updates to existing pages.
- Agent Analytics, which shows whether the AI crawlers fetched the updated page and what the citation rate was after.
Pricing starts with a free Explore tier (10 prompts, ChatGPT only). Essential is $95 a month, Professional $245, Business $579. Crawler logs begin on Professional.
2. AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ Starter is $295 a month with 3,600 credits (one credit is one AI response) across 11 models, with an Action Center for assigning optimization work. The credit model means broad model coverage burns allowance faster. No crawler-log product is published.
3. Scrunch AI
Scrunch AI Core is $250 a month for 125 prompts and 5,000 responses on four LLMs: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot. Nine engines are Enterprise. It adds site audits and AI bot traffic reporting.
4. Profound
Profound lists a free trial of 50 prompts daily for 7 days across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. The full engine set, up to nine, is on a custom Enterprise plan, with an earlier estimate of around $40,000 a year. It is built as an AI marketer more than a testing bench.
5. Ahrefs Brand Radar and Semrush AI Toolkit
Ahrefs Brand Radar lets paid Ahrefs plans track Custom Prompts (a daily quota of 5 on Lite, 10 on Standard, 20 on Advanced) across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, AI Overviews, AI Mode and Claude. Semrush AI Toolkit is listed at $99 a month per domain with 25 prompts (not re-verified recently). Both suit teams already in those suites and wanting directional checks.

Who should pick which
- You want to prove a specific edit changed citations: Promptwatch, because Page Tracker, Citation Trends and period comparison are built for that.
- You want a daily task queue and can accept credit billing: AthenaHQ.
- You are testing a small prompt set on four engines: Scrunch AI Core.
- You are an enterprise with a program budget: Profound.
A simple testing method
Pick ten pages and ten to thirty prompts each. Record a two-week baseline. Edit one variable at a time: add a direct answer, a table or a new section. Wait for crawlers to refetch, which you can confirm in logs, then compare. Treat results as evidence, not proof. Models change, and no platform can guarantee a citation.
