Most AI visibility tools track at country level, if they offer location at all. That is fine for a software company selling worldwide. It is not fine for a dental group, a regional law firm, a multi-location retailer or a franchise whose customers ask "best plumber in Tampa" or "top rated urgent care near me". For them, the question is whether the tool can ask the engine from a specific city, state or even a point on a map, and report the answer for that place.
We checked what each catalog entry documents. Where a tool does not document city or state tracking, we say so rather than guess.

The tools in detail
1. Promptwatch
Promptwatch has the broadest documented location system among full AI visibility platforms. Country-level tracking is on every paid plan. State and city tracking starts on Business and is also on every agency plan (Kick-off $199, Growth $399, Scale $799 a month). In October 2026 it added local GEO/SEO targeting, which pins a monitor to exact coordinates with a radius from 20 meters to 5 kilometers, so ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode answer as if asked from that spot. Other models fall back to country, state or city. Coordinate targeting is on Business, Agency Scale and Enterprise.
Because it is a full platform, the location data sits next to citation analytics, IP-verified crawler logs (from Professional), visitor analytics with conversions and content tools. Essential ($95) and Professional ($245) are country-level only, so budget for Business or an agency plan if city is essential. The agency plans are built for agencies and freelancers running client programs, not for a single brand.
2. Local Falcon
Local Falcon sends the same prompt from every point on a grid, from 3x3 (9 points) to 21x21 (441 points), across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Grok, then maps where the business is recommended. Plans start at $24.99 a month on a credit system, where one credit is one grid point. Credits go fast: a 9x9 scan uses 81. It is a good neighborhood-level tool but is built around local keywords, not crawler logs or conversions.
3. BrightLocal Local AI Visibility
BrightLocal anchors up to 20 prompts per location on ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews, scoring each location from 0 to 100. It is included on Track, Manage and Grow plans, from $41 a month for one location. Three engines, and no way to buy more prompts.
4. Synup AEO
Synup AEO writes 16 local discovery prompts per location, runs them on ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and refreshes monthly. Plans are by location: Solo $49 a month for one location, Premium $299 for up to 10.
5. Yext Scout
Yext Scout measures visibility for individual locations against up to 20 local competitors. Pricing is not published.
6. AthenaHQ and the rest
AthenaHQ Starter ($295 a month) is country-level; multi-region support is Enterprise. Scrunch AI, Semrush AI Toolkit and Ahrefs Brand Radar do not document city or state tracking in our entries.
