Best GEO tools for martech companies (2026)

Seven GEO tools compared for martech vendors fighting over crowded comparison prompts: directory citations, alternatives pages, pricing claims and competitor benchmarking.

Martech is probably the most crowded category in AI search. Ask any engine for "the best marketing automation platform for a 20-person B2B team" and you get six or eight names, each with a one-line summary. Every one of those vendors publishes an alternatives page about the others, every one has a G2 profile, and half of them have a free tool built to attract links. The engine has plenty of material to choose from. Your problem is that a lot of it was written by your competitors.

So a martech GEO program is mostly a comparison program. You need to know which comparison prompts you lose, which pages the engine cited when you lost, and whether what it said about your pricing is true.

Quick verdict

Promptwatch is the best fit for martech vendors: it tags prompts by type (including Competitor Comparison), classifies citations into source types with a separate Directory type for G2 and Capterra-style sites, and checks claims about your pricing against your own pages with Fact Check on Business. AthenaHQ suits teams that want an action queue. If your SEO team already runs on Semrush, the Semrush AI Toolkit add-on is the cheapest way to see your first numbers.

Prompts worth tracking

Martech buyers ask with a budget, a team size and an integration in mind:

  • "Best [category] platform for B2B SaaS under $[budget] a month"
  • "[Competitor] alternatives for small marketing teams"
  • "[Your tool] vs [competitor]: pricing and limits"
  • "Which [category] tool integrates with [Salesforce / Snowflake / Shopify]?"
  • "Does [your tool] have a free plan?"
  • "Best [category] software for agencies with white-label reports"
  • "What do reviewers complain about with [your tool]?"

The last prompt is uncomfortable to track and worth it. Engines will answer it whether you watch or not.

What a martech vendor needs from a GEO tool

Comparison prompts as their own group. Promptwatch labels prompts as Organic, Brand Specific or Competitor Comparison, and by intent (Commercial, Transactional and so on). The Topics page then shows Visibility, Citation Share, average position and Share of Voice per topic, with a By Competitor view. That is how you find out that you win "email automation" but lose "email automation for agencies." Our post on crowded answers in comparison prompts shows why those differ.

Directory and vendor-page citations. In software categories, engines lean on review directories and vendor comparison pages. Promptwatch's Citation Trends has 20 source types, including a Directory type for G2, Capterra and Trustpilot-style sites, and URL Positions shows where each page lands in the source list. If your competitor's "vs" page is cited on your brand prompts, you will see it. Our breakdown of who ChatGPT cites for software is useful background.

Pricing claims. Martech pricing changes often, and engines repeat old plan names for months. Brand Narrative (every plan) groups the claims engines make about you under themes such as Pricing and Features, and lets you compare themes against competitors. Fact Check (Business, Agency Scale, Enterprise) takes a claim you mark inaccurate and finds the pages on your site that state it or contradict it.

Content that answers the comparison. Promptwatch's content creation (from Professional, via AEO articles) can take up to five competitor URLs into a brief, and the content gap analysis on every plan scores how well your pages cover each prompt.

The ranking

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch treats competitors as part of the data rather than a setting. It auto-discovers competitors with a direct-competitor filter, builds heatmaps with brands on one axis and topics or models on the other, and can merge brand variants. Every paid plan can track any of the supported engines. Essential ($95) covers 50 prompts with Brand Narrative and content gap analysis. Professional ($245) adds crawler logs, custom reports and Looker Studio, which matters when the CMO wants AI visibility in the same dashboard as pipeline. Business ($579) adds Fact Check, the automated Content Agent and Ads Radar, which captures sponsored ads in ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode answers. In martech, someone will be buying ads on your comparison prompts.

2. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ Starter is $295 for 3,600 credits across 11 models, with unlimited competitors and a content optimization agent. Credits are one per AI response, and a long comparison prompt set uses them fast. Our catalog lists no crawler-log product.

3. Scrunch AI

Scrunch AI Core ($250) includes competitor benchmarking, 125 prompts and four LLMs. A solid tracker, though it doesn't document directory source breakdowns or claim checking.

4. Semrush AI Toolkit

Semrush AI Toolkit is an add-on to the Semrush suite. Our catalog lists it at $99 a month per domain for 25 prompts and one user, with a note that those figures couldn't be re-verified on October 24, 2026. Its appeal is keyword-to-prompt mapping next to the rank data your SEO team already uses.

5. Profound

Profound fits a large martech company that wants agents for content, demand and PR alongside tracking. Its Prompt Volumes dataset is useful for sizing categories. Enterprise only after the trial, and no prices are published.

6. HubSpot AEO

HubSpot AEO is $50 a month standalone for 25 daily prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, with prioritized recommendations. It is cheap and decent. If HubSpot is one of your direct competitors, though, you may not want your competitive prompt set living inside their product.

7. Conductor

Conductor is an enterprise SEO and content platform with AI search tracking inside editorial workflows. Prices aren't published; the Growth tier lists 2,500 AI search credits a year. Best for content teams already running briefs and approvals in Conductor.

Who should pick which

If you're a martech vendor in a category with ten serious rivals, choose Promptwatch, and budget for Business if wrong pricing claims or competitor ads are already a problem. AthenaHQ fits a team that wants to be told what to do next and will watch credit burn. Semrush shops can turn on the AI Toolkit for a first look. Enterprise content teams inside Conductor should use its AI search credits before adding a tool. HubSpot AEO works for small vendors who don't compete with HubSpot.

Honest limits

Comparison answers are among the least stable in AI search, because engines reshuffle long lists between runs. Read position and share of voice as averages over weeks. And winning a comparison prompt in ChatGPT does not mean you win it in Google AI Mode. Check by engine.

FAQ

Should we publish alternatives pages about competitors?

If they are accurate and useful, yes. Engines cite vendor comparison pages in software categories. Track whether yours get cited with Promptwatch's Page Tracker before writing ten more.

How do we see if G2 is driving our competitor's visibility?

Filter citations by source type. Promptwatch's Directory type groups G2, Capterra and Trustpilot-style sites, and citation search highlights competitor domains.

What if an engine states our old pricing?

Mark the claim as inaccurate in Fact Check (Promptwatch Business) to see which of your pages still state it, then fix or redirect those pages.

Is Share of Voice or Position more useful for martech?

Both. Low Share of Voice is a coverage problem; a late Position in a long list is a prominence problem.
