BrightLocal AI Visibility Tracking: Local SEO and AI Search Features (2026)
BrightLocal Local AI Visibility vs Promptwatch vs Local Falcon: a sourced feature table for local AI tracking, a quick verdict, and who should pick which tool.
Quick verdict
BrightLocal's Local AI Visibility module is the easy pick if you already use BrightLocal: it costs nothing extra on Track, Manage or Grow and scores each location against the competitors AI names nearby. Local Falcon is the tool for seeing how AI answers change across a service area, street by street. Promptwatch is the one to evaluate first when local is part of a bigger AI search program, because it tracks more engines, shows which AI crawlers read your pages, and ties AI-referred visits to conversions.
The three don't measure the same thing. BrightLocal gives you a per-location score. Local Falcon gives you a map of samples. Promptwatch gives you a daily time series for the places you choose, plus everything that happens on your site afterwards.
What BrightLocal's module does in 2026
BrightLocal Local AI Visibility runs up to 20 prompts per location, suggested from the business category, editable, and tagged branded or unbranded. Every query is anchored to the location. The engines are ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews. Each location gets a 0 to 100 score from mentions, position, sentiment and strength of recommendation, plus mention rate, share of voice and average position by platform and prompt. An AI sources leaderboard shows which directories AI cites for the category, and a missing listing can go to BrightLocal's pay-as-you-go Citation Builder. Runs are weekly, monthly or on demand.
BrightLocal's own landing page compares the module with Local Falcon, Search Atlas and Semrush. That table is vendor material, so we built our own from each tool's published pages.

Where BrightLocal wins
Price and fit for existing customers. There is no separate bill, and the AI score lands in the account where you already track rankings, manage citations and, on Grow, handle reviews. The jump from "AI cites this directory and you're not on it" to ordering the listing happens in one place. For a single location, Track at $41 a month (or $369 a year) is the cheapest way here to get an AI score with the rest of a local SEO toolkit attached.
The limits are plain. Three engines. Twenty prompts. No export or white-label. Not on legacy plans, and not automatically on custom plans above 100 locations.
Where Local Falcon wins
Spatial detail. If the question is whether ChatGPT recommends a plumber north of the river but not south of it, a grid of samples answers it and a single score can't. Local Falcon also runs the same keyword on Google Maps, so Share of AI Voice and Share of Local Voice sit side by side. The catch is the meter: one credit per grid point, so 10 keywords on a 9x9 grid four times a month is 3,240 credits for one location on one platform, and monthly credits expire.
Where Promptwatch wins
Everything that happens after the answer. Agent Analytics logs IP-verified AI crawler visits (GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and others) with a citation rate per page, which separates a page AI can't reach from a page it reads and passes over. Visitor analytics counts AI-referred sessions and conversions, and since ChatGPT stopped sending a referrer on 8 October 2026, a toggle counts utm_source=chatgpt.com visits as ChatGPT again. Neither local tool describes either layer.
Engine coverage is the other gap. Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot are missing from BrightLocal's module entirely. And Promptwatch's Content Agent, on Business and Enterprise, writes and publishes pages against gaps to WordPress, Webflow or Framer, so the fix doesn't stop at a directory listing.
Where Promptwatch is weaker for local: no geo-grid, no map rank tracking, and city or coordinate monitors cost more than either local tool. Our Promptwatch vs Local Falcon comparison covers the grid trade-off in more depth.
Who should pick which
Pick BrightLocal's module if you are a single location or small group already on BrightLocal, your report is one AI number next to your local rankings, and listings are the fixes you can act on.
Pick Local Falcon if you are a local SEO agency or single-area business that already thinks in geo-grids and wants AI answers mapped across a service area, and you can watch the credit burn.
Pick Promptwatch if you need Perplexity, Gemini or Copilot in the report, more than 20 prompts per place, client-ready exports, or proof that AI answers bring in customers. The two can share a budget: keep BrightLocal for listings and reviews, and run the AI program in Promptwatch.
To compare them on your own locations, set the same prompts up in each during their trials. Our guide on testing a local AI visibility tool in a trial has a checklist. For Promptwatch, start the 7-day free trial on monthly billing at promptwatch.com/pricing.
