Promptwatch vs ZeroRank (2026): nine rows, scored on published facts
ZeroRank wins on entry price, seats, engine count and workflow access. Promptwatch wins on crawler logs, first-party conversions, shopping and ads, targeting and company scale. The scorecard, the per-answer math, and who should buy which.
Quick verdict
ZeroRank takes four of our nine rows, and they're real wins: a $39 entry plan, unlimited seats, 17 AI platforms on that plan, and approval-gated content workflows on every paid tier. Promptwatch takes the other five: server-side crawler logs, first-party visitor analytics with conversions, ChatGPT Shopping and Ads Radar, finer prompt targeting, and a larger, funded company behind the product. If you want wide tracking and a fix workflow for a small team on a small budget, buy ZeroRank. If you need to explain why an engine cites you and what that citation earned, Promptwatch is the one to buy.
Sources and scoring
ZeroRank facts come from zerorank.ai/pricing, its platform pages and its changelog (latest entry 19 September 2026), all read on 28 October 2026. ZeroRank has no llms.txt; the URL returns a 404. Promptwatch facts come from promptwatch.com/llms.txt, last checked 21 October 2026. We pick one winner per row from what each vendor publishes. Where a vendor doesn't publish something, we say "not published". That describes the documentation, not the code.
The scorecard
| Criterion | Promptwatch | ZeroRank | Winner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry price | Free Explore (ChatGPT only, 10 prompts); Essential $95/mo | Starter $39/mo; a full report on your domain before you enter a card | ZeroRank |
| Engines on the entry paid plan | 11: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot, AI Overviews, AI Mode | 17 listed, naming ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Overviews, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek "and more" | ZeroRank |
| Seats | 1, 2 and 5 on Essential, Professional and Business; 10 on agency plans | Unlimited on every plan | ZeroRank |
| Content and fix workflow | 5 AEO articles on Professional; automated Content Agent from Business ($579) | Agentic workflows, Copilot diffs and WordPress or Webflow pushes on every paid plan | ZeroRank |
| AI crawler data | Agent Analytics: server-side logs, crawl-to-citation path, error tracking, from Professional ($245) and every agency plan | Readiness check of robots.txt, llms.txt and what crawlers get back; no logs published | Promptwatch |
| AI traffic and conversions | Own script or GTM template, with conversion tracking, from Essential | Google Analytics connection; vendor calls the figure a lower bound, with up to 48 hours lag | Promptwatch |
| Shopping and ads | ChatGPT Shopping and Ads Radar from Business; Ads Radar on every agency plan | Not published | Promptwatch |
| Prompt targeting | Search volumes, difficulty, query fan-outs, personas; state and city from Business and on agency plans | Prompt Research with AI volume, Google volume, 12-month trend, country picker; personas and city level not published | Promptwatch |
| Company | Amsterdam; €6M seed (July 2026); 4.7/5 on G2; 1,840+ brands and agencies | Self-funded, nine people per its About page; no G2 score published | Promptwatch |
Final count: five rows to four. One thing we scored as a tie and left out of the table: both put an MCP server and a REST API on every paid plan. ZeroRank's MCP server has had write tools since July 2026, so an AI client can manage prompts and tags, not only read them.
The four rows ZeroRank wins
Entry price. $39 against $95 is the obvious gap. Promptwatch does have a free plan, but Explore is ChatGPT only with 10 prompts, so it's a trial of the interface more than of the coverage. ZeroRank's Starter carries every engine it lists.
Engines. Seventeen beats eleven on count. Two caveats. ZeroRank names only eight of its 17 in the page text, so check that the one you care about is in the list. And every model you add spends more of ZeroRank's answer budget, with higher-cost models spending more per run.
Seats. Unlimited seats on every ZeroRank plan is a clear win for teams where five or six people want to log in. Promptwatch's Essential has one seat.
Workflow access. ZeroRank's workflows trigger on events such as "an answer drops you", pull the sources cited instead, score the gap, draft a brief and post to Slack. Copilot drafts a change as a diff against the live page, and with WordPress or Webflow connected, the approved change ships. All of that is on Starter. Promptwatch's automated Content Agent, which plans, writes and publishes through a review inbox to Webflow, Framer or WordPress, starts on Business. Agency plans don't include it.
The five rows Promptwatch wins
Crawler data. A readiness check tells you a bot could read the page. Agent Analytics tells you whether ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther or the Meta AI crawler actually fetched it, from your CDN logs, and traces the path from crawl to citation. When a page you expected to be cited isn't, this is usually where the cause turns up.
Traffic and conversions. ZeroRank deserves credit for stating its own limits: Google counts AI Overviews clicks as organic and Copilot as bing.com. Promptwatch's visitor analytics run on its own lightweight script or GTM template and tie AI-referred sessions to conversions. That removes the dependency on a Google Analytics connection, though it doesn't change how engines pass referrers.
Shopping and ads. Ads Radar captures sponsored ads in ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode answers to your tracked prompts, with advertiser, target URL and the triggering prompt. ChatGPT Shopping tracking sits next to it. Neither is on ZeroRank's published pages.
Targeting. Both tools estimate prompt volume. Promptwatch adds difficulty scores, query fan-outs, personas and state and city tracking.
Company. A nine-person self-funded team ships fast, and ZeroRank's changelog shows it. A funded company with 1,840+ brands and agencies on the platform is a lower vendor risk for a multi-year program.
The per-answer math
Both vendors meter by AI answers or responses. Dividing price by allowance gives a rough cost per 1,000:
| Plan | Price a month | Monthly allowance | Roughly per 1,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| ZeroRank Starter | $39 | 2,400 answers | $16.25 |
| ZeroRank Growth | $199 | 13,500 answers | $14.74 |
| ZeroRank Agency | $499 | 31,500 answers | $15.84 |
| Promptwatch Essential | $95 | 6,000 responses | $15.83 |
| Promptwatch Professional | $245 | 18,000 responses | $13.61 |
| Promptwatch Agency Growth | $399 | 25,000 responses | $15.96 |
| Promptwatch Agency Scale | $799 | 65,000 responses | $12.29 |
The units may not be identical, and ZeroRank charges more budget for higher-cost models, so treat the last column as rough. The point is that ZeroRank is cheaper to start, not cheaper per answer. Promptwatch's allowance also bundles visitor events and, from Professional, crawler logs.
Who should pick which
Pick ZeroRank if you're a small team or agency that wants every engine it lists, everyone logged in, and approved edits pushed to WordPress or Webflow, and Google Analytics is an acceptable traffic source.
Pick Promptwatch if you need crawler logs to diagnose missing citations, conversions on your own tracking, ChatGPT Shopping or ad visibility, personas or city-level prompts, or a vendor large enough for an enterprise review.
Our recommendation
ZeroRank is strong value and we'd say so to anyone with a tight budget. We still rank Promptwatch above it, because the rows it wins are the ones that turn a visibility report into a diagnosis and a revenue number.
