Rankability vs Promptwatch (2026): agency SEO workspace or AI visibility platform?
Rankability bundles content, audits, Google and local rankings and AI answer tracking for agencies. Promptwatch goes deeper on AI search with crawler logs, conversions and prompt volumes. Six jobs, one winner each.
Quick verdict
These two overlap less than their homepages suggest. Rankability is an SEO workspace for agencies that now tracks AI answers too: briefs, drafts, audits, backlinks, weekly Google rankings and Local Pack grids sit beside daily checks on 11 AI platforms, with unlimited clients and seats. Promptwatch does fewer classic SEO jobs and goes much further on the AI side, with server-side crawler logs, AI-referred conversions, prompt search volumes and fan-outs. If your agency sells content and rankings and wants AI answers in the monthly report, Rankability is a fair buy. If clients pay you for AI search visibility itself, Promptwatch wins.

Six jobs, one winner each
| Job | Rankability | Promptwatch | Winner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Briefs and drafts | 20, 80 or 160 content projects a month, research through export | Content gap analysis; 5 AEO articles on Professional; automated Content Agent on Business ($579/mo) | Rankability |
| Classic SEO | Weekly Google rankings (top 30), Local Pack grids, site audits up to 1,000 pages, backlink monitoring | Site Health audits; Search Insights overlays Search Console and Bing Webmaster data | Rankability |
| AI answer coverage | 11 platforms on every plan, Brave AI included; 100, 300 or 500 queries shared across clients | Real-UI monitoring of ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity and Meta AI, plus API models such as Claude and Grok; unlimited prompts on agency plans | Tie |
| Prompt research | Free query generator; no published volumes or fan-outs | Prompt Volumes with search volume, difficulty and citation rate; fan-outs per model | Promptwatch |
| Crawler evidence | Access check based on robots.txt | IP-verified crawler logs with a crawl-to-citation path, from Professional and on every agency plan | Promptwatch |
| Conversions | Reports can pull in connected Analytics | Visitor analytics with conversions via script, GTM or WordPress plugin | Promptwatch |
Three rows to two, plus a tie. Promptwatch's three weigh more because they explain an AI result instead of just recording it.
Where Rankability is the better buy
The content workflow is still its centre. A content project takes one page from research to brief, outline, AI-assisted draft, optimization guidance and export, using that client's brand voice and sources. Automate turns approved topics into a draft schedule delivered to WordPress, Webflow or a GitHub pull request, and its FAQ says it does not publish automatically by default.
The seat model is the other draw. Every plan has unlimited client workspaces and team members, and clients get a read-only portal or a revocable share link. Promptwatch's agency plans stop at 10 seats. Eleven AI platforms on a $97 plan is generous too.
Where Promptwatch pulls ahead
Rankability's Site Auditor page says its AI crawler checks "use robots.txt evidence" and "do not prove that a platform has cited the page." Fair enough. A robots.txt check says GPTBot is allowed in. It can't say whether GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot or PerplexityBot fetched the page last Tuesday, or hit a 404. Agent Analytics reads that from CDN or host logs, filters spoofed user agents by IP, and shows a citation rate per page beside the crawl history.
Value is the second gap. Rankability doesn't publish a visitor script of its own that ties AI-referred sessions to signups or sales. Promptwatch's visitor analytics does, from Essential up.
Prompt choice is the third. With 100 queries shared across all clients on Starter, picking the wrong hundred hurts. Prompt Volumes and fan-outs show which prompts carry demand before you spend a slot.
The allowance math
Rankability caps distinct questions, shared by every client: ten clients on Agency average 30 queries each. Promptwatch's agency plans cap responses (10,000 on Kick-off, 25,000 on Growth, 65,000 on Scale) and leave projects and prompts unlimited. Rankability publishes no response count, so a per-answer price comparison isn't possible.
| Budget | Rankability | Promptwatch |
|---|---|---|
| Under $100 | Starter $97 | Essential $95: 50 prompts, 6,000 responses, no crawler logs |
| $200 to $300 | Agency $297 | Agency Kick-off $199, or Professional $245 for one brand |
| $500 to $800 | Agency Pro $497 | Business $579, or Agency Scale $799 |
Both have 7-day trials. Rankability's needs a card and limits usage. Promptwatch's runs on monthly billing for Essential, Professional, Kick-off and Growth, next to a free Explore plan (ChatGPT, 10 prompts).
Who should pick which
Pick Rankability if your core product is content and Google rankings, you want the whole team in one tool without counting seats, and AI tracking is a section of the report.
Pick Promptwatch if clients hire you for AI visibility. Someone will ask why a page isn't cited, whether crawlers reached it, and what the AI traffic was worth, and those answers need crawler logs and visitor analytics.
Some agencies will run both.
Our recommendation
For AI search work, start with Promptwatch. The deciding factor is the crawler logs and conversion data, which a robots.txt check and connected Analytics reports don't replace. Agencies can start on Kick-off with the 7-day monthly trial.
