The Prompting Company vs Writesonic GEO (2026): which content-plus-tracking bundle fits?

The Prompting Company and Writesonic GEO both pair AI visibility tracking with article generation. We compare prompts, engines, articles per dollar, billing, and who each one suits.

Quick verdict

On paper these look similar: both bundle prompt tracking with AI-written articles, both track three engines at entry, and both start under $100. In practice they're built for different people. Writesonic GEO is a writing platform with visibility tracking attached, and it gives you far more articles per dollar. The Prompting Company is aimed at developer software, and its real value is coding-agent tracking and agent usability testing on the upper tiers. Content teams that want drafts will get more from Writesonic. Devtools teams will get more from the Prompting Company. Teams that need to know why AI engines cite them should look at Promptwatch before either.

Articles per dollar

This is where Writesonic is clearly ahead. Its $79 Starter includes 15 articles, while the Prompting Company's $99 Basic includes none. At the $399 Growth tier Writesonic includes 50 articles; the Prompting Company reaches 50 only at White-glove for $3,000/mo. Article generation also costs the Prompting Company 20 credits each, which comes out of the same pool as tracking.

Neither vendor's article count tells you about quality, and our Writesonic listing notes the drafts need real editing. Treat both as first drafts.

Tracking depth

At entry they're roughly even, and differently shaped. Both cover ChatGPT and Gemini. The Prompting Company adds Perplexity; Writesonic adds Google AI Overviews. Writesonic gives twice the prompts at entry (50 vs 25), and at the second tier both reach 100 prompts, with Writesonic's costing $100 less.

Above that the paths split. Writesonic opens up its remaining engines on Enterprise. The Prompting Company adds Claude, DeepSeek, and three coding agents on White-glove, which is the only place in this comparison where coding-agent visibility shows up at all. Writesonic also monitors ads, which the Prompting Company doesn't document.

Beyond tracking

The Prompting Company's Enterprise plan includes the Agent Experience audit: it maps what agents try to do with your product and reports where they fail, such as broken API setup or missing docs. For an API or SDK business, that's a different and arguably more useful question than "were we mentioned."

Writesonic's equivalent action layer is the Action Center, which turns findings into on-page and off-page tasks. The full version is Enterprise only.

Billing and trust

The Prompting Company lists a per-month price for every self-serve tier. Writesonic's listed prices assume annual billing, with extra users at $50/mo on Basic and Growth. Our Writesonic listing also records a recurring pattern of Trustpilot and Reddit complaints about charges after cancelling and refused refunds. If you buy it, track the renewal date and keep proof of cancellation.

Who should pick which

Pick Writesonic GEO if your main need is article volume with a directional visibility signal, you're comfortable with annual billing, and three engines are enough for now.

Pick the Prompting Company if you sell developer software, coding agents influence how buyers choose tools, and you can budget for White-glove or Enterprise to get that coverage.

Pick Promptwatch if you need to see how AI engines treat your site and what that traffic is worth. Neither of the other two documents crawler logs, page-level citations, or first-party conversion tracking.

Our recommendation

Both bundles assume the fix is more content. Often the problem is that AI crawlers never fetched the page, or that a Reddit thread is winning the citation. Promptwatch shows you which one it is: Agent Analytics logs AI crawler hits from Professional ($245/mo), citation analytics break sources down to Reddit and YouTube, and visitor analytics ties AI referrals to conversions. Professional includes 5 AEO articles, and Business ($579/mo) adds the automated Content Agent publishing to Webflow, Framer, or WordPress. Start on the free Explore tier or Essential at $95/mo.
