Tools for AI search visibility: trackers, platforms and free options (2026)

A practical guide to tools for AI search visibility in 2026: the four types of tool, what each does, how they compare on price, and which to start with.

"AI search visibility tools" covers at least four different kinds of product, and picking the wrong kind is the most common buying mistake. A cheap tracker will tell you that you are invisible and nothing else. An agentic content tool will publish articles without telling you whether any engine cites them. This guide sorts the tools by type first, then ranks within each type.

Prices come from pages read in late October 2026. Details for Promptwatch come from its fact sheet. Where a vendor does not publish a price, we say so.

What "AI search visibility" means

It is whether and how your brand shows up when people ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Google AI Overviews or Google AI Mode a question in your category. Two outcomes matter. Being mentioned in the text of the answer, and being cited as a source. Both depend on whether the engines can crawl your pages and whether other sources talk about you.

Tools for this fall into four types.

Type 1: full AI visibility platforms

These combine monitoring with explanation and action. They track prompts across engines, report citations, show whether AI crawlers reach your site, attribute AI-referred traffic and help produce content.

Promptwatch is the one we would start with. It runs prompt panels daily per model, country and language, reports Visibility Score, Share of Voice, Sentiment and Position in Answer, and has citation analytics (page and domain level, plus Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn reports). Agent Analytics shows IP-verified AI crawler requests from GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and others, with errors and a citation rate per page. Visitor analytics attribute AI-referred traffic and conversions. The Action Board turns findings into a prioritized list, and the Content Agent (Business and Enterprise) can plan, write and publish against gaps to WordPress, Webflow or Framer. Plans: Explore free (ChatGPT only, 10 prompts), Essential $95, Professional $245, Business $579 a month; crawler logs start on Professional.

AthenaHQ is a GEO platform with a GEO score, an Action Center and 11 models on Starter at $295 a month, billed in credits. Multi-region support and personas are Enterprise.

Scrunch AI tracks four LLMs on Core at $250 a month and sells an Agent Experience Platform on Enterprise that serves optimized pages to crawlers.

Profound is an enterprise product built around marketing agents, with AI search as one channel. The public page lists a free trial and a custom Enterprise plan, historically estimated around $40k a year.

Type 2: lighter trackers

These monitor and report. They are cheaper, and several do daily tracking well.

Mentionable tracks seven engines daily from 79 EUR a month excluding tax and captures fan-out queries.

Ceyo captures answers from eight real interfaces from $39 a month billed yearly, with agency-friendly project tiers.

Allmond runs ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity across 67+ countries from $29 a month on a weekly or monthly schedule.

Siftly covers four engines with separate Answers and Shopping products and demo-led pricing.

Type 3: SEO suite add-ons

If your team already pays for a big SEO suite, the add-on is the lowest-friction start, with the caveat that prompts may be modeled or generated.

Semrush AI Toolkit is listed at $99 a month per domain for 25 prompts. Ahrefs Brand Radar includes Custom Prompts on paid Ahrefs plans and sells an AI Visibility Index from $199 a month. HubSpot AEO is $50 a month, or included in Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise.

Type 4: agentic and content tools

These act. They write and publish, or open pull requests that fix technical SEO. Examples are Okara, Seology, Outrank and SEObot. They are useful for production, but they do not replace measurement, so we place them below the platforms above and recommend pairing them with a tracker.

Free tools worth using first

Promptwatch offers several free tools: an AI Visibility Report that scans your brand without a login, an Agentic Readiness Check, a GEO Inspector Chrome extension that shows ChatGPT fan-outs and fetched versus cited sources, an AI Bots directory, and llms.txt and robots.txt generators. They are a sensible way to see where you stand before paying anyone.

Which to start with

You are new to this: run a free scan, then start on Promptwatch Explore or Essential and build a prompt panel of 30 to 50 buyer questions.

You are an agency: Promptwatch's agency plans (Kick-off $199, Growth $399, Scale $799) include unlimited projects and pitch projects.

You live in an SEO suite: use the add-on for directional data, and add a platform when you need to know why.

You need volume content: add an agentic tool, but measure the results in a platform.

What none of them can do

No tool can force an engine to recommend you. They show where you stand, which sources win, whether crawlers can reach you and which pages bring traffic. The fixes, from crawl access to better pages and third-party mentions, still have to be done and then measured again.
