What are the best AI visibility tools for technical GEO audits? Ranked for 2026

The best AI visibility tools for technical GEO audits, ranked: crawler logs, site audits, citation tracking and fix workflows compared with sourced pricing.

A technical GEO audit asks a narrower question than most AI visibility reviews. It is not "do we get mentioned?" but "can AI systems reach, read and trust our pages, and what is getting in the way?" That changes what you should look for in a tool. A mention tracker with a pretty score does not help if your CDN is challenging OAI-SearchBot.

So we ranked tools on four things a technical audit needs: crawler evidence, an on-site audit, citation data to connect the two, and a way to fix what you find.

What a technical GEO audit covers

  1. Bot access. Does robots.txt allow the AI crawlers you want, and do firewall or CDN rules let them through?
  2. Rendering. Does the useful content exist in the HTML a bot receives, or only after JavaScript runs?
  3. Errors. Which pages return failures to AI bots, and why?
  4. Crawl to citation. Of the pages bots fetch, which ones get cited, and which are fetched and ignored?
  5. Site structure. Linking, content depth, and crawlability issues that affect all search, not only AI.
  6. Result tracking. Whether fixes move visibility and referred traffic.

The ranking

1. Promptwatch

Promptwatch covers the full chain. Agent Analytics provides real-time, IP-verified AI crawler logs (spoofed user agents are filtered out), error tracking with failure explanations, stackable path filters, CSV export, and a crawl-to-citation path with a citation rate per page. It tracks named bots such as GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, Claude-User, PerplexityBot and Google-Agent. Logs arrive via Cloudflare (Logpush or an auto-deployed Worker), AWS CloudFront, Fastly, Vercel, Netlify, Akamai, Google Cloud CDN, custom HTTP or the WordPress plugin.

For on-site checks it runs weekly Site Health audits with 21 checks, a health score, a change report and a weekly email, plus Site Content and Site Linking reports and crawlability checks. 360 Insights joins crawler logs, citation clicks and AI-referred visits per page, and Topic Insights shows where pages underdeliver. The free Agentic Readiness Check gives a first pass without an account.

Plan note: Essential has no crawler logs. They start on Professional at $245 a month. Agency self-serve plans include crawler logs and site audits from Kick-off at $199 a month.

2. AthenaHQ

AthenaHQ is built around action. The catalog notes automated schema and entity tagging at scale, an Action Center and a content optimization agent. Starter is $295 a month on a credit model (3,600 credits, one per AI response) across 11 models. It does not publish crawler logs the way Promptwatch does, so it suits teams that care more about fixes than bot evidence.

3. Scrunch AI

Scrunch AI includes site audits (5 a month on Core at $250 a month), AI agent and bot traffic reporting, and an Agent Experience Platform that serves AI-optimized pages to crawlers on Enterprise. If serving a separate version to bots matches your thinking, it is distinctive. Core tracks four LLMs.

4. Botify

Botify is an enterprise technical SEO platform now positioned around AI search, with content delivery to agents and a large metric set. It is custom-priced and implementation is a project. Our catalog notes no published AI crawler-log product, so check that directly if bot-level evidence is your goal.

5. Foglift

Foglift pairs an unlimited free Technical Audit (SEO, AI readiness, performance, security, accessibility) with monitoring across five engines. The Free plan includes AI Crawler Analytics; Launch is $49 a month. It is a cheap way to run a first audit. Monitoring is metered in tokens.

Agentic fix tools

These ship fixes rather than evidence, and they rank below the platforms above.

  • Encited offers a site auditor, crawl-log analysis, pre-rendering for JavaScript sites and a hosted MCP server, from $19 a month.
  • Seology runs 200+ checks and ships deterministic fixes as GitHub pull requests; Starter is free and Pro is $49 a month.
  • Okara has a Coding Agent that ships fixes as pull requests, on paid plans from $129 a month.
  • SEO MCP exposes 39 tools over MCP, including site audits, Search Console and Core Web Vitals; Pro is $29 a month.

Free crawler-only options

Cloudflare AI Crawl Control is included on every Cloudflare plan and shows AI crawler requests, status codes and robots.txt violations, but only for traffic through Cloudflare. Known Agents has a free plan with 100K events and covers Agent Analytics and robots.txt tooling. Neither tracks prompts or citations.

Who should pick which

If you need the evidence and the fix workflow in one place, Promptwatch is the one to evaluate first. If you own a very large site with an enterprise SEO team, Botify may already be in the room. If you are testing the waters, start with Foglift's free audit and Cloudflare's report, then move to a platform once you know what is wrong.

No tool can promise AI engines will cite you after the audit. It can tell you what stands in the way.
