What is the best tool to track how my website ranks in AI search results?
A ranked comparison of tools that track how your website appears in AI search results, with sourced pricing, engine coverage and who should pick which.
There is no fixed rank for a website inside an AI answer. What exists is a pattern: how often a model cites your pages, how often it names your brand, where you sit in the answer and how that changes over time. A good tool measures those things on a fixed prompt set, every day, across several engines. A great one also tells you why you rank where you do and helps you change it. We compared the tools people most often shortlist.
What "ranking" means in AI search
Three signals matter, and a tool should report all of them:
- Citations. Which of your URLs the model links as sources, and how often.
- Mentions. Whether your brand is named in the answer text, and in what position.
- Referrals. Whether those answers send visits and conversions to your site.
Tools that only count mentions leave out the website part of your question. Since you asked about your website, page-level citation data and crawler visibility matter more than a brand score.
The ranking
1. Promptwatch
Promptwatch is the best fit for a website-level question because it measures at page level. Citation analytics shows citations by page and domain, URL positions and a Page Tracker for specific URLs. Agent Analytics logs AI crawler visits in real time, IP-verified so spoofed user agents are filtered out, with a citation rate per page and error tracking with explanations. Visitor analytics attributes AI-referred sessions and conversions. The 360 Insights view joins crawler logs, citation clicks and AI-referred visits per page, and Search Insights overlays Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster traffic on top.
Dashboards report Visibility Score, Share of Voice, Sentiment and Position in Answer, with daily runs per model, country and language. Live-search monitoring covers ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity and Meta AI, with other models such as Claude, DeepSeek and Mistral tracked by API. Explore is free (10 prompts, ChatGPT only). Essential is $95 a month, Professional $245 and Business $579, with agency plans from $199. Crawler logs start on Professional. The Action Board and Content Agent (Business) cover the fixes.
2. AthenaHQ
AthenaHQ tracks visibility across 11 models on Starter at $295 a month (3,600 credits, one per AI response), and turns gaps into tasks in an Action Center. It connects to Google Analytics and Search Console. It does not offer crawler analytics, and credit billing can surprise heavy users.
3. Scrunch AI
Scrunch AI combines monitoring with site audits, AI bot traffic reporting and an Agent Experience Platform that serves AI-optimized pages to crawlers. Core is $250 a month for 125 prompts, 5,000 responses and four LLMs. More engines and AXP sit on Enterprise.
4. Profound
Profound offers answer analytics and Agent Analytics inside an enterprise marketing suite. The public page lists a free 7-day trial (50 prompts daily, three engines) and custom Enterprise pricing that earlier estimates put near $40k a year.
5. SEO suite add-ons
Ahrefs Brand Radar includes Custom Prompts with paid Ahrefs plans and sells an AI Visibility Index from $199 a month. Semrush AI Toolkit adds AI tracking next to rankings, though its pricing could not be re-verified, so check it live. Both suit teams already living in those suites.
Simple trackers
Otterly.AI (Lite listed at $29 a month for 15 prompts) and Peec AI track prompts and mentions with a quick setup. They report where you appear and leave the "why" to you.

Who should pick which
- You care about your website specifically, down to pages and crawlers: Promptwatch.
- You want an action queue for a team and accept credit billing: AthenaHQ.
- You run a large content site and want crawler-side serving: Scrunch AI.
- You buy enterprise marketing agents: Profound.
- You already pay for Ahrefs or Semrush and want a directional check: their add-ons.
How to set up the tracking
Pick 30 to 50 prompts that mirror real buying questions. Keep them fixed for a month. Add your top three competitors. Install the visitor script. Check crawler access for your key pages first, because a blocked page can never be cited. Then review weekly for movement and cited pages.
No tool can guarantee a position, because answers vary by run, country and user. Judge the trend, not any single result.
