Promptwatch vs Birdeye Search AI (2026)
Birdeye Search AI and Promptwatch compared: a reviews and listings suite with an AI search module against a full AI visibility platform, on engines, metering, location tracking, and diagnostics.
Quick verdict
Birdeye Search AI is a module inside a reviews, listings and social platform. Its best trick is the Accuracy report: when an AI engine gets your hours or address wrong, Birdeye traces the error to its source and corrects it automatically if Birdeye manages that listing. For a chain already running reviews and listings in Birdeye, that's a real reason to switch it on.
Promptwatch is a dedicated AI visibility platform, and it wins the comparison for most buyers. It publishes its prices, runs prompts daily, and goes past the answer into the AI crawler logs, page-level citations and AI-referred conversions that Birdeye's published pages don't cover. It also handles location at the city and coordinate level on the right plans. If you aren't already a Birdeye customer, put Promptwatch first on the list.

Where Birdeye wins
Listing accuracy is the obvious one. Birdeye's Accuracy report finds the source an engine pulled a wrong detail from. If it's a listing Birdeye manages, the correction goes out automatically. If it's an unmanaged source such as a forum or a third-party directory, the report tells you where it is and you fix it yourself. For a dental group or a restaurant chain, a wrong phone number in a ChatGPT answer costs real bookings, and fixing it inside the same platform that manages the listing is quick. Promptwatch doesn't manage listings, so that correction would happen somewhere else.
Birdeye also reports per location by default, which is how multi-location operators think. Visibility Score and share of voice come by brand, by location or both, with Citations, Ranking, Accuracy and Sentiment reports on top. The product page says Birdeye runs live queries and measures the answers real users get rather than API samples.
Compliance may decide it for some buyers. Birdeye's product page lists SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and HIPAA compliance, which matters for the healthcare groups it targets. (Promptwatch lists ISO/IEC 27001 certification and GDPR compliance; HIPAA isn't mentioned in the Promptwatch materials we used.)
And consolidation. If you already pay Birdeye for reviews and listings, adding AI Search means one fewer vendor. Our Birdeye Search AI review sees that as its strongest argument.
Where Promptwatch wins
Pricing you can plan around. Birdeye doesn't publish a price, and its metering multiplies quickly. Birdeye's own example, 25 locations on 3 engines with 15 prompts each at a monthly cadence, comes to 1,125 prompts a month. Move that to weekly scans or add engines and the number climbs again. Unused prompts only roll over if an annual contract says so, bundles can only be downgraded at renewal, and pay-as-you-go overage costs 1.25x the standard rate. Promptwatch publishes fixed allowances per plan and sends usage alerts at 85% of a quota.
Freshness. Birdeye's default scan is monthly. Promptwatch runs prompt panels daily per model, country and language, so after you ship a change you can watch the answers day by day instead of waiting for next month's scan.
The diagnostic layer. Birdeye tells you that a location lost visibility and where the AI got its facts. Promptwatch also shows why a page did or didn't get picked up. Agent Analytics records IP-verified visits from GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Agent and other AI crawlers, with error explanations and a citation rate per page. Citation analytics go down to page and domain level, with Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn reports and offsite mentions. Crawler logs start on Professional ($245/mo) and come with every agency plan.
Attribution. Visitor analytics tie sessions referred by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot and others to conversions, through a script, the GTM template or the WordPress plugin. Birdeye's pages don't describe the step from an AI answer to a site visit.
Location control. Birdeye reports by location; Promptwatch lets you choose where each monitor asks from. State and city are on Business and every agency plan. Coordinate targeting, new in October 2026, pins a monitor to a spot with a 20 m to 5 km radius so ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode answer as if asked there. Other models fall back to the nearest country, state or city setting. That's on Business, Agency Scale and Enterprise.
Sponsored answers are worth a mention for local categories. Promptwatch's Ads Radar captures ads shown in ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode against your tracked prompts, with the advertiser, copy and landing page. It doesn't cover Perplexity. It's on Business and every agency plan. Birdeye's listing doesn't mention ad tracking.
Pricing compared
Birdeye: not published. You'll be quoted by location band, and the meter (locations x frequency x engines x prompts) decides how far the quote stretches. Model your real prompt count before the call.
Promptwatch for a multi-location brand is usually Business at $579/mo: 5 projects, 350 prompts, 42,000 responses, state and city tracking, coordinate targeting, Ads Radar, the automated Content Agent and 100M crawler logs. No trial on Business. Professional at $245/mo is country level only but includes crawler logs and a 7-day trial on monthly billing. Agencies get state and city tracking on all three agency plans ($199, $399, $799), with unlimited projects and prompts and 10 seats; coordinate targeting needs Agency Scale.
Who should pick which
Pick Birdeye Search AI if Birdeye already runs your reviews and listings, most of your AI problems are wrong location details, and a monthly report per location is enough. The automatic correction of managed listings is worth more to you than extra diagnostics.
Pick Promptwatch if you want published pricing, daily data, and an explanation for lost answers that goes down to crawler hits and cited pages. Pick it too if you need to prove AI search drives bookings, or if you want to check answers from specific coordinates rather than a location label.
Plenty of Birdeye customers could reasonably keep Birdeye for listings and run Promptwatch for measurement. Our local AI visibility roundup covers the other options, and how to test a local AI visibility tool in a free trial explains what you can and can't check before paying.
FAQ
What counts as one prompt in Birdeye?
One query, on one engine, for one location. Birdeye multiplies locations, scan frequency, engines and prompts per location to get monthly usage.
Does Promptwatch fix wrong hours or addresses in AI answers?
It isn't a listings manager, so it won't push corrections to directories. It will show you which pages and domains an engine cited, which helps you find where the wrong detail came from.
Do both track Google AI Mode?
Yes. Birdeye lists Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews among its seven engines. Promptwatch monitors both through the real interfaces, and they're two of the three engines its coordinate targeting applies to.
