Promptwatch vs Yext Scout for local AI visibility (2026)
Promptwatch and Yext Scout compared for multi-location brands: per-store benchmarking, engines, city and coordinate targeting, crawler logs, attribution, and pricing.
Quick verdict
Yext Scout is built for a brand with a lot of storefronts that already runs its listings through Yext. It benchmarks each location against its 20 closest competitors and hands fixes to Yext's listings, reviews and pages products. If you live inside Yext, that loop is hard to match.
For everyone else, and for Yext customers who need to see past the answer itself, Promptwatch is the stronger pick. It runs prompt panels by country, state and city, can pin a monitor to exact coordinates for ChatGPT and the two Google AI surfaces, and covers the layers Scout's published pages don't: AI crawler logs, page-level citation analytics, and AI-referred visits tied to conversions. It also publishes its prices. Start your shortlist with Promptwatch unless the Yext platform is already your system of record for locations.

Where Yext Scout wins
Per-store benchmarking is the pitch, and it is a good one. Scout reports head-to-head win rates against a brand's 20 closest competitors, both for brand-level prompts and for individual locations. A franchise marketing lead can see that the store on one side of town loses to a specific rival while the store across the river wins. A national average hides that. Our Yext Scout review calls it the most location-literate product in the category, and we still think that's right.
Execution inside Yext is the other half. Scout's Action Center passes recommendations to agents that create content and fill in missing data across Yext's Listings, Reviews, Pages and Social products. When the problem is a wrong detail on a directory or a thin location page, the fix lands in the system that feeds those directories. Promptwatch writes and publishes content to your CMS, but managing business listings isn't part of what it sells. If your AI problem is mostly listings hygiene, Yext is closer to the fix.
Yext also brings a large local data set. It says the Scout Index processes more than 2 billion data points a month across 9 million business-location pairs. That's Yext's own figure, and it supports Yext's local research more than anything you'll see in your own dashboard.
Where Promptwatch wins
Start with access. Yext doesn't publish a Scout price, and when we checked, yext.com/pricing returned a 404. Yext's FAQ says Scout is "generally packaged into a solution built around your goals rather than priced as a separate line item." The per-location estimates floating around are third-party numbers that Yext didn't confirm, so we leave them out. Promptwatch lists every plan, and four of them can be trialed for seven days on monthly billing.
Engine coverage is the next gap. Promptwatch monitors ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Amazon Alexa and Meta AI through their real interfaces, and tracks Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Mistral via API. Every paid plan gets every active model. Scout covers about four engines, and Yext's own pages don't agree on which four.
Then there's control over where a prompt is asked from. Scout benchmarks your locations. Promptwatch lets you set the location on the monitor itself: country on every paid plan, state and city on Business ($579/mo) and every agency plan. Local GEO/SEO targeting, added in October 2026, goes further and pins a monitor to exact coordinates with a radius between 20 m and 5 km. ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode then answer as if the question came from that spot, and other models fall back to country, state or city. Coordinate targeting is on Business, Agency Scale and Enterprise.
Diagnosis is where the two products really part ways. When a store drops out of an answer, Scout shows the drop. Promptwatch's Agent Analytics shows whether GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot actually fetched that location page, filters out bots spoofing those user agents by checking IPs, explains crawl errors, and gives each page a citation rate. Citation analytics show which pages and domains the engine cited instead, including Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn. Crawler logs start on Professional ($245/mo); Essential has none.
Finally, revenue. Visitor analytics connect AI-referred sessions from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot and other engines to conversions. For a location business, that's how you show the AI program produced bookings and calls rather than just mentions. Our Scout listing documents nothing comparable.
Pricing compared
For a multi-location brand, the Promptwatch plan to look at is Business at $579/mo. It includes 5 projects, 5 seats, 350 prompts, 42,000 responses, state and city tracking, coordinate targeting, Ads Radar, Shopping Insights, the automated Content Agent and 100M crawler logs. Annual billing is 12 months for the price of 10. Business has no trial. Professional at $245/mo stays at country level but includes crawler logs and can be trialed.
Agencies with location clients get unlimited projects and prompts, 10 seats, state and city tracking, Ads Radar and crawler logs on every agency plan: Kick-off at $199, Growth at $399 and Scale at $799. Only Scale adds coordinate targeting, and Scale has no trial.
Yext Scout is custom and normally bundled, so budget for a platform contract. Our listing also records documented complaints about forced renewals and refused refunds on Yext's core SMB products. Enterprise contracts are negotiated differently, but read the renewal and exit terms closely.
Who should pick which
Pick Yext Scout if you run many locations, already pay for Yext Listings, Reviews or Pages, and want per-store benchmarking whose fixes flow into those products. In that setup Scout extends something you already own, and the listings loop is worth more than extra engines.
Pick Promptwatch if you aren't on Yext, if four engines won't cover your buyers, or if someone senior will ask why a location lost an answer and whether AI search sends paying customers. Those questions need crawler logs, citation analytics and visitor analytics. Promptwatch has all three, and Scout's published pages don't describe any of them.
Some Yext customers will end up running both: Scout for listings-driven fixes, Promptwatch for engine coverage, coordinate checks and attribution. If that's your situation, load the same local prompts into both and check whether they agree on which stores are winning before you commit to either renewal.

FAQ
Does Yext Scout track cities or exact coordinates?
It benchmarks individual locations against nearby competitors. Our listing doesn't document city-level prompt targeting or coordinate targeting as separate controls. Promptwatch offers city tracking on Business and all agency plans, and coordinate targeting on Business, Agency Scale and Enterprise.
Can I buy Yext Scout on its own?
Yext describes Scout as generally packaged into a wider solution rather than a separate line item, and there's no public price. Expect a platform conversation.
Which tool checks the real AI interfaces?
Promptwatch monitors ChatGPT Search, both Google AI surfaces, Copilot, Gemini, Perplexity, Amazon Alexa and Meta AI through their real interfaces, with Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Mistral tracked via API. Our Scout listing doesn't say how Scout collects answers.
