Rankability review 2026: a wide agency workspace with a thin AI evidence layer
Rankability reviewed after its 2026 repricing: what Starter, Agency and Agency Pro include, how the shared allowances behave, what its curated reviews praise, and where Promptwatch covers what it doesn't publish.
Quick verdict
Rankability is a good agency tool that is easy to misfile. It's sold as AI SEO software and does track AI answers on 11 platforms, but its strength is still the content workflow, now joined by audits, backlinks and Google and local rank tracking for unlimited clients. As the place an agency does its SEO and content work, it's well priced and plainly metered. As the system of record for AI visibility, it's thin: 100 to 500 tracked queries shared across all clients, a crawler check based on robots.txt, and no published conversion tracking for AI visits. Use it for the work. For proof of AI results, add or choose Promptwatch.
What it is now
Rankability, Inc. is based in St. Louis and was founded in 2024 by Nathan Gotch (CEO) and Simon L. Smith (CTO). It began as a content optimizer and expanded into research, audits, visibility tracking and automation for agencies. The homepage promises clients "10x more visibility in AI search". That's a marketing line, not a measured result.
Each client gets a workspace with its brand knowledge, content, audits and tracking. Serena, the built-in assistant, reads a client's approved sources and suggests next steps for you to approve.
Plans, read 28 October 2026
| Allowance a month | Starter $97 | Agency $297 | Agency Pro $497 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Content projects | 20 | 80 | 160 |
| Tracked AI queries, checked daily | 100 | 300 | 500 |
| Google keywords, weekly, top 30 | 50 | 150 | 250 |
| Local Pack scans | 10 | 30 | 50 |
| Page audits, then site audits | 20 and 2 | 80 and 10 | 160 and 25 |
Annual billing is $970, $2,970 or $4,970, ten months' worth. Gotch Inner Circle, weekly group coaching with Nathan Gotch, comes only with annual Agency Pro. Paid monthly plans have a 7-day trial that needs a card and limits usage; annual plans have none. Existing customers keep their legacy price, which is why older write-ups quote different numbers.
Two details matter more than the prices. Every allowance is shared across clients, so a new workspace adds no capacity. Content, scan and audit allowances reset monthly without rollover. Larger Local Pack grids cost extra too: a 9x9 grid uses four scans.
What works
Unlimited people and clients. No seat math, and clients get a read-only portal or a revocable share link.
A content project is a real unit of work. Research, brief, outline, AI-assisted draft or refresh, optimization guidance and export, with two AI revisions, in formats from articles and roundups to service pages.
Automation with a brake. Automate schedules drafts from approved topics and delivers to WordPress, Webflow or GitHub, where it opens a pull request instead of merging. By default it doesn't publish on its own.
Breadth. ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Grok, Copilot, Brave AI, DeepSeek and Meta AI are all on the $97 plan, with mentions, citations, sentiment and competitor comparisons.
The reviews Rankability curates on its own site mostly praise the content optimizer and its ease of use, and several reviewers say they came from Surfer. Danny C. on Capterra, October 2025: "It is easier to use than other solutions like Surfer SEO, and it provides better results than Semrush's content optimizer." We didn't capture an aggregate G2 or Capterra score, so we don't quote one.
Where it stops
Rankability is candid that its AI crawler checks rely on robots.txt evidence and don't prove a platform cited the page. You learn that a bot may enter, not that it came. Its plan pages also don't publish server-side crawler logs, its own visitor script for AI-referred conversions, search volumes or fan-outs for tracked queries, ChatGPT Shopping or AI ad tracking, or Framer publishing. Reports can pull in connected Search Console and Analytics data, which covers part of the reporting need.
The evidence layer, side by side
| Question | Rankability | Promptwatch |
|---|---|---|
| Did AI crawlers fetch the page? | Robots.txt access check | IP-verified Agent Analytics logs, from Professional and on agency plans |
| Which sources were cited instead? | Pages cited per tracked query | Page and domain citations, Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn reports, Citation Trends |
| Did AI visitors convert? | Connected Analytics in reports | Visitor analytics with conversions, from Essential |
| Which prompts are worth tracking? | Free query generator | Prompt Volumes and per-model fan-outs |
| What to fix first? | Serena suggests next steps | Action Board with weekly evidence-backed actions |
Who should pick which
Buy Rankability if you run a content and SEO agency, want one workspace per client with unlimited seats, and treat AI tracking as part of a broader report.
Look elsewhere if AI visibility is the deliverable or you'll be asked which AI visits became revenue.
Our recommendation
Rankability earns its place as an agency workbench, and plain allowances make it easy to budget. For AI results you can defend in a client meeting, Promptwatch is the platform we'd add or choose, because its crawler logs and visitor analytics answer what Rankability's tracker leaves open. More options are on the Rankability alternatives page.
